Eid al-Adha, celebrated during the final days of Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Makkah, Eid al-Adha is a time when many Muslims reflect on the meaning of sacrifice. We remember the readiness of Prophet Ibrahim (alayhi as-salaam) to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah (subhanahu wa taala), and the many sacrifices Prophet Mohammed (sallallahu alayhi wa salaam) made for the ummah.

Striving to follow their honoured example and faced with a world beset by suffering and injustice, we understand our trust in Allah (SWT) must be coupled with our personal action and effort. We make our own sacrifices. For many people, this includes giving qurbani (sacrifice) through Islamic Relief.

Thanks to your sacrifice, Islamic Relief has been working around the clock to distribute high quality, Shariah-compliant qurbani meat to vulnerable families in 28 countries. For all of them, your qurbani provides welcome relief from the constant worry of finding food. For some, your qurbani will be the only meat they taste this year. Your sacrifice has eased their hardship. Thank you so much.

Delivering a programme of this scale, serving some of the world’s most vulnerable people in some of the hardest to reach places on Earth, is always a big logistical challenge. I am therefore incredibly grateful to Islamic Relief staff, who have worked tirelessly to ensure our qurbani programme is delivered and that it is quality assured to the highest possible standards.

May Allah (SWT) reward and protect you all for your efforts.

Jazakallah Khair and Eid Mubarak.

Wasalaamu alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
