Mojma is a 68-year-old Rohingya refugee who was displaced from her home and now lives in a refugee camp in Bangladesh with her family. Last year, Islamic Relief’s korban pack helped bring joy amid difficult conditions.
“We are completely dependent on various organisations just to survive. Unfortunately, we have no income, so we hardly ever eat meat. The only time we eat meat is on Hari Raya Haji.
“Since we migrated here, we had to leave everything behind in our homes. We have not been able to work, so we have no money at all and cannot buy and nutritious food.
“Sometimes I wonder if people can understand our situation, losing family members, losing a home, then migrating to another country, not being able to find any work to survive and then living in small shelter where rainwater comes in at every moment.
“Hari Raya Haji was always fun for us when we were in Myanmar, it was a happy time for my family back when we were safe. It is not the same now, but I still eagerly await Hari Raya Haji because it is the only time when my children are able to have some meat.
“The korban meat brings immense pleasure and joy to me and my family. It helps meet our nutritional needs, and my family is so excited to get some meat. They ask me again and again when the meat will come, eagerly awaiting its arrival.
“Thank you so much to everyone that donates. I cannot express my thankfulness towards Islamic Relief and their donors for this packet of joy they share with us”, says Mojma.
Give joy this Eid. Donate today so vulnerable families can enjoy the blessed days days of Hari Raya Haji without worrying about what they will eat.
